01 Nov First In-person Event of 2021 a Hit
It was wonderful to welcome members and guests to our first in-person event of this year. Many attendees expressed their happiness at being able to see each other again.
The afternoon started off with a guided tour of the Magnetic North Exhibition in the Kunsthal Rotterdam. This is an exhibition showcasing the work of the 'Group of Seven' Canadian painters. You can see the rest of the pictures here.
The cultural program was followed by a series of short presentations in a meeting room. We met Adam Barbolet who replaces Sameena Qureshi as the Senior Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy. He will be joining the Board of the NCCC and was presented with a pin depicting the flags of both countries. We also met Fanny Bousquet, who replaces Caroline Balduc and will focus on Science, Tech and Innovation. You can view their presentation here.
Next, we heard from Michael Henry of Houser Henry & Syron. Earlier this year, a number of CEO's and owners of mid-sized companies - including NCCC members - were surveyed about their continuing response to the challenges posed by the pandemic. He commented on the main findings of the resulting report 'CEOs Speak - Resilience; Operating Business Beyond COVID'.
