Come join us for a fun, in-person visit to the amazing City Vineyard in The Hague! Explore the beautiful vines, learn about urban winemaking, and enjoy a relaxing time surrounded by nature right in the city. Perfect for wine lovers and curious minds alike. Don’t miss out on this cool experience!

It all started with a wild and out-of-the-box idea: a winery in the beautiful city of The Hague in an area where you would least expect it. In the ‘Laak’ quarter right next to the old, inland harbours, right next to railway station Moerwijk. On that spot, grapes have been growing and have been cultivated since 2014. Protected by the railway embankment, nurtured with love and care, the vines are looked after by people who are learning together what it is like to be a wine-grower.

The Haagse Stadswijngaard is not about mass production or perfection at all costs. It is about making good wine from a beautiful place, about trying new approaches, and about enjoying the process as much as the result.
One of the cooperators will offer a tour of the winery presenting the stories, for instance, of the winery itself, the wine-making process and the volunteer community involved in this enterprise. The presentation will take approximately an hour, depending on the questions asked.
At the end of the tour, three different varieties of 070 wines will be tasted. Since the grapes are harvested after the summer, unfortunately, the wines will not be available for purchase at this time but may be ordered for the fall, upon request. The local product ‘grappah’ which is also produced by the city winery may be purchased, along with beer that is made from the skins of the grapes.
Laura Geurs is a volunteer at the 070 winery. Laura studied international law at McGill University, Montreal, and she will also tell her personal story about living and studying in Canada. She has written a book, “Thirty years on the road” about her travel, work, and study career. The book will also be available for sale (however, only in Dutch).
Cost for tour and tasting is €12,50 p.p. There is a limited capacity of 16 people.
